Set who someone reports to

Choose the person who approves someone's requests first, see what happens when that person is away or leaves, and update many people at once.

Who can use this

OwnerCompany admin

Requirements

None beyond the role

Reports to decides who approves a person's leave and other requests first. Owner and Company admin set it.

Set it for one person

  1. Open Company admin → Company → Organization and select the person.
  2. Under Approvals, choose someone in Reports to. Choose Nobody (department manager, then HR / admin decide) to clear it.

The change is saved immediately and you see Reports to updated. New approvals follow it. Requests already waiting stay where they are.

The person sees it in My work settings under Reports to, with Not set when nobody is chosen.

Who decides, in order

For requests on the Standard route, Dromix looks for the first person who can decide:

  1. The person under Reports to.
  2. If that person cannot take it, for example because they are suspended, their own Reports to, and so on up.
  3. The Department manager of the same department.
  4. HR or the Company admins.

A request never goes to the person who sent it; that step is skipped. If the approver is away, their Out-of-office cover decides instead. See Ask someone to cover your approvals.

When someone leaves

When you remove a person who others report to, Dromix shows how many people report to them. Those people then report to the removed person's own Reports to, or to nobody. See Suspend, offboard or remove someone.

Update many people at once

  1. In Organization, select Import Reports to (CSV).
  2. Paste or upload one person per line: email, manager_email. Leave the manager empty to clear it.
  3. Select Preview, then Update.

Loops are refused, for example two people reporting to each other.

Departments, groups and titles are set in the same panel. See Departments and titles.
