Set up calendars: Google and Microsoft
Turn on Calendar so everyone gets event reminders as a Dromix chat. Google connects through Dromix by default; your own Google app is optional.
Who can use this
OwnerCompany adminRequirements
- Calendar connected
With Calendar on, each person links their own Google Calendar or Outlook/Hotmail calendar, and Dromix sends their event reminders as a chat. Dromix only reads calendars. Only Owner and Company admin can change these settings.
Open Company admin → Sales & integrations → Integrations → Calendar. The guide on the right has a Google and a Microsoft tab with each step.
Do not enter anyone's email address or password here. The fields take the IDs of apps your company registers with Google and Microsoft.
Google Calendar
By default, Google Calendar connects through Dromix. People select Connect Google Calendar and sign in on Google's page. You do not need a Google Cloud project and there is nothing to paste. Your server needs its Dromix license and must be able to reach dromix.net.
Privacy: when someone connects, and about once an hour while they stay connected, the Dromix service at dromix.net briefly handles the Google sign-in code and renews access, because the secret of Dromix's Google app stays there. Dromix does not store anyone's Google tokens and never reads calendar data. Your server keeps the tokens encrypted and reads events directly from Google.
Your own Google app (optional)
If Google sign-in should stay strictly between your server and Google, open Advanced: use our own Google app and use your own Google app instead:
- In console.cloud.google.com, signed in with your company account, create a project and enable the Google Calendar API.
- Set up the consent screen with the scopes email and calendar.readonly. Choose Internal if everyone uses your company Google Workspace; otherwise choose External.
- For External, select Publish app so the status is In production. You do not need test users. Verification is optional: without it, people see a "Google hasn't verified this app" warning and Google allows at most 100 users. Do not leave the app in Testing: access then stops after 7 days and people have to connect again.
- Create an OAuth client of type Web application and add the Google redirect URI shown in Dromix exactly.
- Paste the Google client ID (ends with …apps.googleusercontent.com) and the Google client secret into Dromix and select Save Calendar.
This only changes new connections. People connected through Dromix keep working. If you later select Remove own Google app, people who connected with your app have to connect again.
Microsoft (Outlook and Hotmail)
- In portal.azure.com, open Microsoft Entra ID → App registrations → New registration. Allow organizational and personal Microsoft accounts, so Hotmail and Outlook.com work too.
- Add the Microsoft redirect URI shown in Dromix as a Web platform.
- Create a client secret and copy its Value (not the Secret ID).
- Add the Microsoft Graph permissions User.Read, Calendars.Read and offline_access.
- Paste the Microsoft client ID and Microsoft client secret into Dromix.
Turn it on
Tick Active and select Save Calendar. People then connect their own account under Your calendar in Integrations. See Connect your calendar and email.
The list below shows who has linked a calendar. Check calendars now checks every connection at once and sends any reminders that are due.
